Resident
Alphans: United We Stand
As this year unfolds, the fraternity has already
set its short-term and long-term goals it will
pursue. This time is yet another season for planting
the seeds for a good harvest in the future. The
making of a history starts once again.
With
the leadership of LC Rene Valdecantos, the new
alumni Lord Chancellor, the fraternity is hopeful
for a more solid alumni association. Induction
of officers to be held on the 31st of this month
will surely be a moment of sincere and committed
pledge among the elected officers. On the other
hand, the resident's election will be on January
29. Brods Steve Roldan 92-E and Joseph Cruz 2000-C
take feat on the Lord Chancellor seat of the Alpha
Phi Beta Fraternity.
This
column gave us again the opportunity to express
our humble gratitude to the alumni brods. With
all your unrelenting support for us, we continue
to realize the rationale of our existence: pursue
excellence and relevance. We thank you for being
approachable for solicitations and most of all
allowing us residents to talk and drink with you
during fellowships. We would like to let you know
that those moments where we sit down, drink a
while and discuss matters with you will be forever
cherished and remembered. It provides us acquaintance
where we exchange snapshot on our different generations.
In this kind of gathering, we strengthen the link
among us and effectively forge ties between two
realms of the same blood. At those fleeting instant,
we, the residents feel moved by the concern of
the alumni towards our welfare. It exemplifies
the undying devotion to the brotherhood we all
hold dear.
Our
generation speaks of something unique and different
from all that came before us. Nevertheless, the
similarity of our goals is well delineated; like
every other age it delves in the vigorous but
wise pursuit of excellence. We are proud that
the fraternity takes much part in the campus'
mundane activities. We even take side on national
dispute and thrust our claims. We have always
considered our immediate responsibility in our
nation even as students that we are. The EDSA
II witnessed our love for our country, as we laid
our giant banner and howled with the crowd to
show our indignation at the corrupt administration
of Joseph Estrada.
In the campus, we remain to be the only organization
that produced the most number of prolific debaters.
We continue to participate in different debate
competition, be it local, national or international.
The latest scout is the upcoming Inquirer Inter-Collegiate
Debate Competition of which we look forward to
win through our brods in the College of Law. As
we have found out, The Inquirer is where our Brod
Isagani Yambot works as publisher. Also nearing
is the USC elections where we intend to run college
representatives, councilors and the USC chair.
The brotherhood that we belong takes a lot of
hardships and sacrifice. We need to conquer our
fears hand in hand to achieve and realize what
is rightfully ours. The tradition that we not
only carry on but also expand to the best of our
abilities is a burden that we all share as Alphans.
All brods must unite to achieve the goals of our
fraternity. Supporting one another is indispensable
for all of us. If we sail together we will endure
the wind and the rough seas.
We will be ready for the future because we are
united. The Alpha Phi Beta shall prevail!
